This painting is a parallel of primary parenthood and the idea of zeal being allowed to smolder. Particularly in the summer - my focus is disrupted from personal goals towards other things. Pulling me away from one “home” to another north. How important we think all our “jobs” to be. And they are, and aren’t at the same time worthy enough callings that divert our attention. I’m so grateful to be warmed by my current coals - life’s responsibility. As time marches on I know the flame goes out and I’ll be tending an entirely different fire.
