THE creation series
Old Testament passages set the tone of voice for these ongoing conceptual paintings, allowing interpretation to form on canvas through gestural color blocking and bold movement. A study-first approach is a foundational part of my creative process and an homage to my roots. In painting the Bible there is no lack of inspiration, subject or story there.
PAINTING DAD’S LIKENESS
About 10 years ago I found a black and white photo of my dad and his friend, Russell, playing guitar in the woods from the 1970’s. I loved it so much I wanted to paint it. Over a decade later, here we are with all the details I could muster up after back and forth texts with dad, determining what brand of guitars they have and what key they are playing in.
